A law firm for the lady who has accused Bob Dylan of sexually abusing her in 1965 when she was 12 years outdated has challenged claims by Dylan’s biographer that the singer-songwriter was not in New York at the time of the alleged abuse.

Dylan, 80, is accused by an anonymised female, JC, of creating “an emotional connection” with her to “lower her inhibitions with the item of sexually abusing her, which he did, coupled with the provision of prescription drugs, liquor and threats of actual physical violence, leaving her emotionally scarred and psychologically broken to this day”.

In a lawsuit filed previously this 7 days, she is seeking unspecified damages and a jury demo for allegations of assault, battery, false imprisonment and infliction of emotional distress.

Dylan has denied the allegations, with a spokesperson indicating “the 56-12 months-aged assert is untrue and will be vigorously defended”.

JC dates the alleged abuse to a six-7 days period around April and Could 1965, at the Chelsea resort in New York Metropolis where by Dylan stored an apartment. In the wake of her lawsuit currently being filed, Dylan’s biographer Clinton Heylin – who has published various textbooks about the singer such as the the latest The Double Daily life of Bob Dylan Vol I, 1941–1966: A Restless, Hungry Sensation, which covers the period of time in issue – voiced question more than her promises, as did many others on the web.

Heylin informed HuffPost:

It’s not possible. Dylan was touring England during that time, and was in Los Angeles for two of all those weeks, as well as a working day or two at Woodstock. The tour was 10 times, but Bob flew into London on 26 April and arrived back in New York on 3 June. If Dylan was in New York in mid-April, it was for no extra than a working day or two. Woodstock was where by he spent most of his time when not touring. And if he was in NYC, he invariably stayed at his manager’s apartment in Gramercy, not the Chelsea.

JC’s lawyer, Daniel Isaacs, has now responded to Heylin’s claims. “Looking at the [tour] routine – it is not inconsistent with our client’s promises,” he told Web page 6. “There are dates that he wasn’t touring for many weeks in April and this will all occur out at that appropriate time. The promises ended up vetted before the circumstance was submitted and we did our research. It is our situation that the evidence will set up that he was in New York for the duration of the suitable time period.”

The allegations threaten to terribly stain the popularity of a singer regarded by quite a few as the foremost American songwriter of the 20th century. He is the only songwriter to have been awarded the Nobel prize for literature, and proceeds to launch perfectly-regarded new do the job, including 2020 album Rough and Rowdy Methods.

In 2020, he bought his entire catalogue of songs to Universal Tunes Team in an undisclosed offer believed to be truly worth more than $300m. In July, a judge ruled in his favour right after a claim was brought towards him by the estate of Jacques Levy, his collaborator on the album Desire.
